The Comoros Islands are situated off the coast of Madagascar. This region is renowned for growing some of the finest vanilla in the world. Its rich aroma and woody profile makes it the choice for a number of top chefs.

Papua New Guinea (PNG) is in the southwestern Pacific. The region is known for its fertile soil and favorable climate for growing vanilla in its lowlands and island provinces. Both Vanilla Planifolia and Vanilla Tahitensis are grown in Papua New Guinea.
Vanilla from this region is known for its distinct subtle, fruitier aroma and flavor.
Taylor & Colledge has been working closely with the locals in Papua New Guinea for 20 years. This long-term relationship ensures we receive the highest quality beans from every crop.
Madagascar is the largest vanilla producer in the world. Approximately 80% of the world’s vanilla beans originate from Madagascar and the surrounding region.
Bourbon vanilla, a term used collectively for beans from Madagascar, has a sweet, creamy, rich, full bodied aroma which is popular with chefs worldwide. The Bourbon vanilla profile is the most recognized profile and often referred to as the gold standard of vanillas.
We have strong relationships with the growers in Madagascar. Their collecting, curing and sorting techniques are superior which results in high quality, plump, full bodied vanilla beans.
The archipelago islands of the Kingdom of Tonga is world renowned for producing some of the world’s finest vanilla but for many years, vanilla vines have laid mostly dormant. Taylor & Colledge recognized that agricultural factors had prevented landholders from growing vanilla and have worked with the local community to create a rehabilitation project helping to reinstate the Kingdom of Tonga as a premium producer of Vanilla.
Our Vava’u Tonga Vanilla program started in March 2013, as a project to help re-establish a small number of vanilla gardens in Vava’u. But the passion and interest from the Tongan growers inspired us to develop a vanilla assistance program.
Today, we continue to work with the Fairtrade organization to help and support, meaning we provide funding, equipment and knowledge about the latest sustainable farming practices. The ultimate goal is to assist the Tongan industry to become sustainable now and into future and to bring this premium quality vanilla back to the market.
Taylor & Colledge have continued to support the Vanilla industry as an active participant in the Sustainable Vanilla Initiative (SVI). The SVI is a voluntary industry initiative, which aims to promote the long-term stable supply of high quality, natural vanilla, produced in a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable way, benefiting all partners along the value chain.
